FILIPINOS will get to experience and see more of the progressing digital services from Meralco as the electric company proudly presented their newest innovations during the four-day summit of this year’s Meralco Technology and Innovation Summit (MTECH).
Using theme “Journey for Tomorrow,” Meralco Chief Technology Advisor Gavin D. Barfield highlighted their recent achievements as they embraced digital innovations for the past 18 months and how it helped them attain their goal— to give their customers enhanced services and experiences.
During his speech, Barfield pointed out that these innovations will play a big part in the future, making daily routines easier.
He also admitted that as technologies continue to move in a rapid pace and as the country’s largest power utility, they invested heavily in new technologies, looking at new disruptive technologies just to give its customers the best and enhanced digital customer experiences.
Barfield also promised to offer new, better and more digital customer services soon that will perfectly fit the firm’s future customers, which he called as ‘digital natives.’
“We are also developing mobility solutions and adding more sensors, automation, and smart meters to our network to improve reliability and enable the integration of renewables,” he added.
The summit’s first day also showcased the launching of FORGE, a cybersecurity competition that promotes cybersecurity in the Philippines, led by international tech firms to discuss today’s disruptive technologies and innovations.
Aside from FORGE, participants of the event also got to experience themselves some new technologies from various booths from Meralco’s leading technology partners that they might also use in the future as they look for more better solutions and services.
Attendees were also able to try the Augmented Reality and the Virtual Reality and how it is being used in today’s businesses. Booths also presented high technologies that can play a big role in logistics and planning.
Meralco holds the tech summit yearly to let their participants experience personally how these technologies can be helpful in the future.
MTECH 2017 ran from Nov. 21 to 24 at the Meralco Lopez Building, Ortigas, Pasig City.
