SEAG preparations in full swing

Government and sports officials were all impressed – and delighted as well – with the honest-to-goodness preparations being undertaken in building world-class facilities for next year’s Southeast Asian Games at the New Clark City in Pampanga.

Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee Chairman and Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Cayetano takes a “selfie” with BCDA Chairman Vince Dizon, Amy Eisma, POC President Ricky Vargas, Tarlac Gov. Susan Yap  and Rep. Mikee Romero during the installation of composite columns at the New Clark City in Pampanga. Also shown is Rep. Rimpy Bondoc (partly hidden).
Led by Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee Chairman and Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Cayetano, the delegation came to the site of the main hub and was elated with the art and style – not to mention the quickness of the constructions of some facilities.

Cayetano and members of the Committee on Sports in the Congress and officials of the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippines Sports Commission are all convinced the venues will be completed as scheduled, perhaps even much earlier.

“The delegation is very impressed with what’s happening,” said Rep. Mikee Romero (1Pacman Party-List) during the installation of composite columns inside the country’s newest sporting hub.

Cayetano, according to Romero who is vice chair of the Committee on Sports, was even elated during the video presentation of the Athletes Village.

“We’re happy that Sec. Cayetano took time out for this very important event. This marks the rebirth of Philippine sports and Sec. Cayetano has been doing great job to make our dream of having state-of-the-art sports facilities a reality,” added Romero.

Dizon, according to Romero, also deserves a big pat on the back for implementing the project through the help of AlloyMTD.

“When you talk about the Athletes’ Village, how these world-class facilities coming up, we can all say in unison that the rebirth of PH sports could start next year,” said Romero. “I’ve been to London Games, so it brought back memories of my London experience during the video presentation of the village.”

Also witnessing the installation of the columns were POC President and PBA Chairman Ricky Vargas, BCDA Chairman Vince Dizon, Tarlac Gov. Susan Yap, Rep. Rimpy Bondoc, and officials of the PSC.

With the kind of facilities being built, the delegation believes the Filipino athletes will not only be inspired but will also be fully motivated to work doubly hard in search for sporting greatness.

Royalties and dignitaries are expected to visit the country during the SEA Games slated in December next year.

Clark will serve as the main hub of the biennial event with athletics and swimming to be held at the New Clark City.
