THE competition in the recent 2017 Southeast Asian Shooting Association tournament has given her an idea of what to expect in the coming Southeast Asian Games.

Amparo “Ampao” Acuna, who emerged as the most bemedalled Filipino shooter meet in Subang, Malaysia, said this as she prepares for the biennial meet in August.

“Yes, sila rin po ang haharapin ko sa SEA Games,” said Acuna, who finished with a gold and two bronze medals.

Acuna's gold came in the women’s 50-meter prone gold medal with the score 591.

And this won’t be the last that she will meet her rival, dethroned champion Thu Thu Kyaw, who made a 590 for the silver and is expected to fight it out with her when they meet again in the Kuala Lumpur Games.

The bronze medal went to Mohd Taibi Nur Suryani of Malaysia (589). She is also expected to give Acuna a hard time the next time around.

For Acuna, this is her first gold medal in an international meet.

Acuna also settled for the 50 M 3-position women’s bronze, setting a new course qualifying score Record (QSR) of 581, which better than the 580 she did back in 2014.

It is also considered a new Philippine record.

She finished ahead of Mohd Taibi Nur Suryani of Malaysia 581, who eventually claimed the silver. Suryani will also be around in the SEA Games.
