Alex Compton quit as head coach of the Alaska Aces after being with the team for five years.

Jeffrey Cariaso, his long-time deputy, has taken over his position.

“I have made great relationships and have a lot of love for people in the organization. Being a part of the Alaska family has meant a lot to me and my family, and we will always treasure our time with the Aces,” said Compton in a statement after meeting with team owner Fred Uytengsu.

Compton was at the helm of Alaska when it had five championship appearances in 15 conferences.

The last time was when Alaska reached the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals and lost to Magnolia.
