It's now down to a battle of two undefeated teams.
PLDT Digital will be duking it out with defending champ Senate Advocates for the Makabansa Basketball League Season 2 Championship in a best-of-three series, beginning Dec. 4 at the Meralco Fitness Center.
Seeded one and two, respectively, PLDT Digital and the Senate Advocates dismantled the third seed, Meralco Linemen in the round-robin elimination game.
PLDT whipped Meralco, 87-79, banking on a blistering pace and a lead that went as high as 30 to finish their elimination campaign with a clean 5-0 slate.
Meanwhile, the Senate Advocates had to endure a slugfest against the same Meralco Linemen on Nov. 22 en route to an 83-74 win.
Fueling their victory was their great poise and a strong second half push to close out the Linemen. As with PLDT Digital, the Senate Advocates finished with an identical 5-0 record, entering the finals for the second straight year.
The MBL is a basketball tournament involving teams from different government offices and private groups formed to promote health and wellness, and foster camaraderie amongst the participants. Through sportsmanship and healthy competition, the MBL aims to solidify partnerships in and among the public and private sectors to better serve the public.
At the start of the tournament, each team chose a beneficiary, with the winning teams’ beneficiaries receiving cash prizes as a donation.
