FOR the first time in league history, the Philippine Basketball Association showcases its unique week-long all-star festivities.
The Mindanao leg, the first of three legs, will showcase the PBA’s top players from Mindanao going up against the Smart Gilas Pilipinas National team.
The two protagonists will take on each other in the exhibition match at 7 p.m. at the Xavier University in Cagayan De Oro City tonight.
Star Hotshots coach Chito Victolero will be making his first All-Star appearance after being selected to call the shots for the Mindanao selection.
The Mindanao All-Stars will battle the Smart Gilas Pilipinas National team as part of the build-up for tournaments ahead, particulary the SEABA next month.
Victolero will have his players Mark Barroca, Peter June Simon and Rafi Reavis from the Hotshots, Barangay Ginebra’s Scottie Thompson and Phoenix Petroleum’s Cyrus Baguio.
Other members of the team are Troy Rosario, Sonny Thoss, Baser Amer, RR Garcia, Carlo Lastimosa and Glenn Khobuntin.
The Luzon and Visayas leg of the All-Star week will follow on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
