DAVAO CITY—The City Government of Davao thanked all the agencies. who helped in the success of the first-ever Alveo Ironman 70.3 event here not just in the city but in the entire Mindanao.
Assistant City Administrator for Administration, lawyer Tristan Dwight Domingo said that the Ironman event will not be successful if not for the support of the participating Cities and Municipality and other agencies.
“We are very thankful to the different agencies, for the security forces for putting all their efforts in the event, our partner LGUs (Local Government Units), Panabo, Carmen and Tagum, and of course our sponsors,” Domingo said.
Almost 2,000 athletes from the different parts of the world joined the first Alveo Ironman 70.3 in the city.
Mauricio Mendez from Mexico won the championship in the professional category for men, while Radka Kahlefeldt from the Czech Republic, who gave birth 10 weeks ago, won the professional female category.
The win of Mendez and Kahfeldt ended the dominance of the Australians in the Ironman Philippines event.
Sunrise event General Manager Princess Galura also expressed their gratitude for the success of the Ironman and branded the event as a ‘perfect’ one.
“Huge congratulations to Davao City for a wonderful event! The level of organization was perfect to the smallest detail. Everyone felt safe in the course,” Galura said.
Domingo said that the success of the Alveo Ironman 70.3 2018 is a big challenge for the city to further improve the activity for the next 2 years.
“This is a challenge for us, we need to level up our game next year to match the success of the Alveo Ironman 70.3 2018,” he said.
