Inday Will Always Love You, a primetime romantic comedy airing today on GMA-7, has two specific missions. First, it wanted to take the viewers on a virtual journey featuring the unique beauty and rich culture of Cebu. And then, it wanted to present a story that everyone can easily relate to.
Based on the teaser shown during the series’ media launch, main star Barbie Forteza gets caught up in a bit of a love triangle with the characters played by Derrick Monasterio and Juancho Trivino.
Derrick plays Patrick, a rich Cebuano bachelor while Juancho is Ernest, our main star’s very good friend. Seems a generic “best friends fall in love” plot? Probably. But there’s more in the story that people should watch out for.
“It’s a fresh concept and completely different from the series I starred in previously,” Barbie said, alluding to the top rating romcom, Meant To Be. “That’s why I don’t feel any pressure. We are presenting a simple yet interesting story.”
Produced by GMA News and Public Affairs, the newest rom-com series puts the Queen City of the South in the spotlight while painting the stories of Cebuanos and of the Filipino family as seen through the eyes of the Manileña girl Inday Happylou Magtibay, played by Barbie.
In the series, Barbie portrays a bubbly and optimistic girl, who works in a lechon store as an assistant. Her life makes a topsy-turvy turn when she makes a career move away from Manila in search for her father in Cebu.
Sharing her excitement over the upcoming primetime series, Barbie added that Inday Will Always Love You is the perfect project for her after the success of her last series.
“The network has put a lot of effort to come up with this series. I couldn’t think of any other comeback shows better than this. Teasers pa lang, kita n’yo na agad ‘yung visuals, ‘yung story relatable talaga.”
She further said that it comforts her whenever she posts anything about the show because a lot of Cebuanos are commenting and giving their feedback about the latest primetime program.
“They’re so excited because they feel like they are seeing and experiencing Cebu because of the show. Nakakatuwa kasi parang nilibot namin sila sa Cebu,” she shared.
Adding color to Happylou’s journey of love and family drama are some of the country’s seasoned actors led by Ricky Davao, Manilyn Reynes, Nova Villa, and Tina Paner.
Viewers should also look forward to the characters of Kim Rodriguez and Super Tekla as well as the all-grown up “Lumen Twins” Charisse and Charlotte Hermoso.
Inday Will Always Love You also features New Zealand-based Pinoy vlogger and Internet star Kimpoy Feliciano, as well as character actor Buboy Villar and Fliptop artists Mzhayt and Price Tagg.
At the helm of the series are directors Monti Parungao and Rember Gelera with head writers Zig Dulay and Nathan Arciaga.
