Kantar says more Filipinos watched ABS-CBN shows in September

ABS-CBN remained as the country’s top TV network with the most watched relevant news and values-oriented programs in September, recording an average audience share of 47 perent nationwide in both rural and urban homes, or 14 points higher compared with GMA’s 33 percent, based on data from Kantar Media.

The Kapamilya network also beat GMA in other areas like in Metro Manila where it enjoyed a 42 percent audience share versus GMA’s 28 percent,; in Total Luzon with 43 perent versus GMA’s 36 percent; in Total Visayas with 54 percent, beating GMA’s 27 percent; and in Total Mindanao with 54 percent versus GMA’s 30 percent.

Multinational audience measurement provider Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,610 urban and rural homes that represent 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population.

FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano (40.2 percent) celebrated its second anniversary at the top as it kept its spot as the most watched program in the country, thrilling more viewers as Cardo (Coco Martin) went on a heart-pounding adventure to save his fellow Special Action Force members.

Kapamilya shows dominated the numbers game based on the latest nationwide ratings data provided by Kantar Media 

Next on the list is KathNiel’s La Luna Sangre (35.2 percent), which recently welcomed the return of Angel Locsin as Jacintha Magsaysay.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN’s flagship news program TV Patrol (33.8 percent) remained as the most watched news program in the country compared to rival show 24 Oras (20.9 percent).

Billy Crawford’s variety-talent-talk show Little Big Shots (33.3 percent) also drew more viewers last month as it impressed and inspired viewers with the remarkable talents and touching stories of Pinoy kids.

Also bringing inspiration to audiences was MMK 25 (30.1 percent) with the the real-life stories of letter senders that reflect the lives of Filipinos. Wansapanataym Presents: Amazing Ving (27.8 percent), which concluded last month, also inspired and taught values and lessons to young viewers nationwide.

The fierce fights and wild revelations in Wildflower (25.3 percent) continued to grip viewers in September and remained unbeaten in its timeslot. 

Also securing a spot in the top 10 are Home Sweetie Home (23.7 percent) starring John Lloyd Cruz and Toni Gonzaga, and Goin’ Bulilit (21.2 percent) led by witty and talented Kapamilya child stars.

ABS-CBN also won across all time blocks, particularly in primetime where it recorded an average audience share of 51 percent or a 20-point lead over GMA’s 31 percent. The primetime block is the most important part of the day when most Filipinos watch TV and advertisers put a larger chunk of their investment in to reach more consumers effectively.

The Kapamilya network also garnered more viewers in the morning block (6 a.m.-12 nn) with 40 percent versus GMA’s 31 percent, the noontime block (12nn-3 p.m.) with 47 percent, compared to GMA’s 35 percent, and in the afternoon block (3-6 p.m.) with 43 percent, beating GMA’s 39 percent.
