A tropical storm outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility named “Kammuri” has intensified into a typhoon while approaching the Philippines.
Weather specialist Raymond Ordinario said “Kammuri” was spotted 1,425 kilometers east of the Visayas and was packing maximum sustained winds of 138 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph.

It was moving west-northwest at 10 kph.
Ordinario said the typhoon is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday night or Sunday morning and will be named “Tisoy.”
