Warriors odds-on bet vs Cavaliers

The Golden State Warriors arranged a repeat NBA Finals’ showdown with the Cleveland Cavaliers following a 101-92 Game 7 victory over the Houston Rockets on Monday (Tuesday in Manila).

Their best-of-seven playoff starts at 9 am, June 1, Friday (Manila time) at the Oracle Arena in Oakland which is the homecourt of the defending champion Warriors.

And if you are betting man, you may have to put your money on the Warriors winning against the Cavaliers.

According to OddsShark, the Warriors’ title odds have jumped to -1100 (bet $1,100 to win $100), making them the overwhelming picks to repeat as champions.

James and Curry
ESPN’s David Payne Purdum said the Cavaliers are the biggest NBA Finals underdogs since at least 2002.

That the Cavaliers are underdogs is understandable as LeBron James and Co. were beaten by the Warriors in five games in last year’s Finals. Making matters worse is that the Cavs are without Kyrie Irving this time around. This season, the Cavs were also crushed by the Dubs in the only two times they met, 118-108 and 99-92.

Another concern is the playing time of James, who is averaging 41.3 minutes per game in the postseason. The four-time MVP appeared burned out at times during finals and it will take another superhuman effort from him for Cleveland to pull off an upset in the NBA Finals.

Moreover, the Cavs don’t have an answer to the Warriors’ Triple Threat of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson in the finals.
