Mock elections show TV series cast winning

CHARACTERS of the ABS-CBN series “Ang Probinsyano” were declared winners of the 2018 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan mock elections on Saturday.

The Commission on Elections, the government’s elections watchdog, made use of characters from the action-drama series for the simulation of the May 14 polls to be conducted in 42,029 barangays throughout the country.

Ricardo Dalisay, the character of actor Coco Martin, was declared winner for the position of barangay chairman in Tondo, in the waterfront district of Manila.

Dalisay was listed as a candidate for the said position along with other characters from the show, Lucas Cabrera and Delfin Borja.

In the show, Cabrera and Borja are played by actors Edu Manzano, and Jaime Fabregas, respectively.

Another character, Brandon Cabrera, played by actor Mark Anthony Fernandez, was declared winner of the elections for SK chairman.

Actress Angel Aquino’s character, Diana Olegario, on the other hand, led the race for barangay councilor.

Simulations of the manual counting and tallying of votes were also conducted by the Comelec.

Acting Comelec chairman Al Parreño said another simulation would be held before the May 14 elections to ensure that facilitators and voters are informed.
