Over P1 million worth of shabu seized by police in Makati

Police confiscated more than P1 million worth of shabu from seven individuals whom they caught in illegal gambling in Makati City late Tuesday afternoon.

The suspects were identified as Anthony Ordoñez, 18;  Arris Magarzo, 20; Jonathan Dionisio, 28; Ceferino Fulgar, 29, and Regie Baradia, 51, all residents of Barangay Rizal, Makati City; Khin William Santiago, 19, of Barangay Pembo, also in Makati City, and Quilben Jakiri Pacheco, 23, of Barangay Lower Bicutan, Taguig City.

Found in their possession were two pieces of ice plastic bags and one small heat sealed plastic containing 165 grams of shabu, two weighing scales, two pieces of P1,000 bill, 23 pieces of P100 bill, four pieces of P50 bill and seven pieces of P20 bills. 

“The illegal drugs confiscated weighs 165 grams all in all with street value of P1.2 million,” said Makati City police station commander Rogelio Simon.

The seven suspects were caught gambling “cara y cruz” along the riverside service road near Magnolia Street in Barangay Rizal around 4:45 p.m.

The suspects’ arrest was made in response to a text message informing that an Illegal gambling session was in progress involving one alias Tonet and his cohorts. 

The group is allegedly notorious in the area.

The suspects are now detained at the Makati City jail and will be charged for illegal gambling and violating Republic Act 9165 (Dangerous Drugs Act) before the city prosecutors office.

“We thanked the people who informed us about this illegal activity. Police are working 24/7 to protect the city against criminals and violators of city ordinances,” said Simon.

Meanwhile, Southern Police District director Eliseo Cruz commended Simon and his men led by Chief Inspector Judge Rowe Donato for the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of the prohibited substance that worth large of money. 

Cruz also lauded the Makati police under PCol Simon for another accomplishment following the arrests of five suspects and confiscation of 81 sachets of shabu the other day during their simultaneous buy-bust operation.
