The Metro Manila Development Authority has just raised the fines for illegal parking in the metropolis to make sure that erring motorists toe the line.
From 200, the fees for illegal parking has been raised to P1,000 for attended vehicle, while from P500, the fees for illegal parking for unattended vehicle was hiked to P2,000.
For road obstruction, meanwhile, the fees has been raised from P150 to P1,000.
According to MMDA spokesperson and Assistant Secretary Celine Pialago, those found to have their vehicles illegally parked will have two violations written on the ticket to be issued by MMDA: Illegal parking and obstruction.
Pialago added that a motorist may be issued more than one ticket in a day.
