Since filing her certificate of candidacy on a Friday when she first ran for senator, Senator Nancy Binay said she opted to file again her COC on the same day Friday due to sentimental reasons.
“It’s for sentimental reasons because back in 2013, it was a last-minute filing and it was on a Friday. So today, I also chose a Friday to file my certificate, like I’m continuing what I have started,” said Binay.
She was accompanied to the main office of the Comelec by her brother, former Makati mayor Jejomar Binay as their parents, former Vice President Jejomar Binay and former Makati mayor Elena Binay are in a pilgrimage in Italy and are set to return to the country over the weekend.
If given another fresh term by the electorate, the lady senator vowed to continue and improve her advocacies.
“I guess the kind of service that I’ve been giving for the past six years is what I’ll continue and even make it better,” said Binay, who was recently elected as president of the United Nationalist Alliance, the political party founded by her father.
Binay added that she does not mind ranking lower in recent surveys, adding that there is still a long way to go since it’s still six or seven months before the 2019 midterm elections.
