Expanded PhilHealth coverage bill hailed

Leyte Rep. Yedda Romualdez on Sunday lauded the approval of a measure expanding the mandatory coverage of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. to include PWD citizens on second reading in Congress.

“We thank our colleagues for approving the measure seeking mandatory PhilHealth coverage for all registered PWDs,” said Romualdez, the bill’s co-author, said the proposed measure.

“This is another assistance that would directly help alleviate their conditions,” she said.

She said she is hoping the measure would be approved soon for all registered senior citizens.

Under the measure, PWDs are exempted from 12-percent value-added tax.
