THE National Capital Region Police Office announced on Saturday it sent 48 erring police personnel to Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City for intensive disciplinary training to stop their wrongdoings and improve their performance.

The 15-day training beginning on Friday, according to Metro Manila chief Oscar Albayalde, is in line with the Internal Cleansing Program of the NCRPO.

“These cops are with existing administrative charges and cautioned for their lapses while on duty. Within the training period, these police officers are restricted within the training camp,” said Albayalde.

He said the NCRPO disciplinary training program sought to instill discipline and build ethics, assess the commitment level of each police officer to their sworn duties, and also teach financial management to strengthen financial capacity of the police.

“The problem on undisciplined and rogue cops has been a long time challenge in the Philippine National Police particularly at the NCRPO. The abuses and involvement of few police officers to illegal activities ruin the image of the entire organization,” said Albayalde.

“This is disappointing,” he added.

“I swear that under my leadership, I will not allow these bad eggs to influence others nor continue their habits of destroying the image of good policemen. It is about time to look at this problem on a perspective where we can help the police rebuild their life and become better public servants.”

Albayalde emphasized that while many police officers were recognized for good service, this disciplinary training program was the best opportunity of the policemen who were cautioned or committed less grave offenses to improve themselves and deepen their commitment with the police organization.

Albayalde said the NCRPO would not tolerate any misdeed of NCRPO policemen and personnel.

Last month, more than 300 rogue policemen were reassigned to Mindanao due to their alleged involvement in illegal activity and other abuses.

But some of these policemen went Awol (absent without official leave) before the time of deployment.

These cops are composed of police commissioned officers including one superintendent, four chief inspectors, nine senior inspectors, three inspectors; and 293 non-commissioned officers.

They came from the regional headquarters and five police districts in Metro Manila.

Forty-nine from Northern Police District, 10 from Eastern Police District, 72 from Manila Police District, 51 from Southern Police District, 35 from Quezon City Police District, and 94 from NCRPO – Regional Headquarters.

They have listed as among those who have existing administrative and criminal cases that ranges from Robbery, Extortion, Drug Protection, Illegal Drug User, Carnapping, Grave Threat, to Recidivism of tardiness, Texting while on duty and Performing duties not in proper uniform.

Albayalde said the reassignment dubbed as Task Force South would serve as stern warning to all NCRPO personnel.

“We are very firm on our stand on our internal cleansing program. Our cleansing would transcend from these offenses to erring cops.”
