President Marcos met with high-ranking Philippine Air Force (PAF) officials at Villamor Airbase in Pasay City during Monday’s 2nd Quarter Command Conference.
Led by PAF Commanding General, Lieutenant General Stephen Parreño, commanders from various Air Force units and senior headquarters PAF staff officers attended the conference.
Parreño and his men offered insights and recommendations to President Marcos on bolstering the country’s airpower capabilities to safeguard the nation against emerging security challenges, including the enhancement of capabilities for disaster response.
Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Romero Brawner, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, and Special Assistant to the President Anton Lagdameo also joined in the conference to receive briefings on the PAF’s recent activities and plans as the nation’s air arm for defense.
The Air Force appreciates the President’s guidance and support for modernization efforts within the military, aimed at enhancing the country’s defense capabilities to address current challenges.
“We look forward to his continuous support in our modernization efforts to become a truly capable, credible, and sustainable Air Force that our nation needs and deserves,” the PAF said in a statement.
The PAF command conference came amid swirling rumors of a destabilization plot being developed by former military officials against President Marcos.
President Marcos previously dispelled the rumors, expressing confidence and trust in the professionalism of both the military and the police force to the administration. – With Vince Lopez
