A health expert from Ilocos Sur hopes that an individual or a group from the province will be nominated to the coveted World Rabies Day MSD Awards.

Dr. Liborio Arca, Vigan City veterinarian, urged residents of the city and the province to beat the deadline for submission of nominees for the said award on September 4.

The World Rabies Day MSD Awards is in line with the celebration of the 10th World Rabies Day on September 28.

Arca said the announcement of Global Alliance for Rabies Control, an international group devoted to end rabies, was very timely.

“The awards system inspires Ilocanos and all Filipinos to fight for rabies-free barangays,” he said.

The prize is $1,200 or resources of equal value, plaque and certificate. The awardees’ work will also be promoted worldwide to generate support for his or her advocacy.

In every region two awards will be given, one individual and one government or private group. Nominees must be actively helping in rabies control, creating impact in their own region at the time of submission of nominees.
