Typhoon ‘Gener’ maintains strength as it moves northwest

Typhoon ‘Gener’ has been located 1,225 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora.

It carries maximum sustained winds of up to 130 kph near the center and gustiness of 160 kph.

It is forecast to move northwest at 25 kph.

‘Gener’ is not expected to make landfall and it may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, typhoon ‘Ferdie’ is located 215 km northwest of Basco, Batanes.

It carries maximum sustained winds of 210 kph near the center and gustiness of 245 kph.

It is forecast to move northwest at 20 kph.

Signal number 2 is up over Batanes.

Signal number 1 is up over Babuyan group of islands.

‘Ferdie’ is expected to leave PAR at about 2 pm on Wednesday.
