It’s a wine week on Sept 11-14 as Wine Story Academy holds a series of informative and fun wine events at Shangri-La Plaza Mall in Mandaluyong City.
Wine Story Academy is the approved program provider of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, the largest global provider of wine qualifications. WSET launched the first-ever global “Wide Education Week” in 45 countries as part of its 50th anniversary activities.
Two of the events organized by Wine Story Academy will unfold at Planet Grapes, a hip gathering place and upscale wine shop-cum-restaurant catering to the new generation of wine lovers in the Philippines.
Italian, German, Portuguese, and Spanish wines will be featured on Sept. 11 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. during the “Old World Wines: A Taste of Tradition.” A ticket costs P1,000.
On Sept. 12, Planet Grapes will present “New World Classics” featuring scintillating wine selections from Argentina, Australia, California, Chile, New Zealand, and South Africa. The two-hour guided tasting tour starts at 7:00 p.m., and priced at P1,000 per person.
Wine Story will host “Tour de France” on Sept. 13. The event will feature walk-around tastings from the famous French wine regions of Bordeaux, Champagne, Burgundy, Alsace, and the Rhone Valley, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Ticket is P1,200.
The highlight of the week’s festivities slated on Sept. 14 is a day-long event called “WinEd: Wine Appreciation through Education.”
A mini museum highlighting the story of Wine Story Academy will include a wine guide and notable achievements of its alumni. Back-to-back wine classes will commence hourly from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. There will also be interactive wine games and activities well-suited for budding as well as seasoned wine enthusiasts.
These activities will be followed by a lively wine career chat at 7:00 p.m. about wine-related careers with a panel of accomplished professionals who are passionate about wine, and represent various fields such as culinary, sommelier, media, education, and retail. Limited seats are available, a ticket costs P1,500.
