Senior recreation center Sunshine Place is hosting Beyond Steps, the first choreographed therapy class.
A form of therapy, Beyond Steps enhances the individual’s need to know and learn the importance of a patterned dance which can actually heal ailing minds and bodies. The class is said to boost and strengthen one’s physical state as well as awaken their state of mind.
Besides improving heart and lung function, weight management, and motor skills, the class taps into one’s awareness, self-confidence, self-esteem, sentiments, thinking process, agility, thinking process, and memory skills.
The class will be conducted by Emily Jo "EJ" Villacorta, a retired psychometrician from the International School Manila. She incorporates her theater experience in Beyond Steps.
