Cyclone ‘Paolo’ now a severe tropical storm

TROPICAL cyclone “Paolo” intensified and developed into a severe tropical storm Tuesday at 3 p.m., according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

Robb Gile, weather forecaster, said the location of “Paolo” was estimated at 655 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar packing maximum sustained winds of up to 90 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph.

It was forecast to move west northwest at 10 kph.

“The track of ‘Paolo’ is consistent based on our models. It is heading toward the Philippine Sea,” Gile told the Manila Standard.
