This corner features pets of animal lovers every week. We hope new owners and those thinking of getting a pet will be encouraged to be responsible “furparents” through these features. We also hope more people will be moved to be kind to animals when they read about the great relationship that can be created between humans and animals.

MOLLY was posted for adoption in a whatsapp group of Sheryl Marie’s child by a parent.

Sheryl messaged the parent and asked why Molly was put up for adoption. The parent replied that the real owner can no longer take care of Molly as only two dogs are allowed in the new condo unit.

When Sheryl went to the place of  Molly’s first owner, Molly immediately went to her and “sumiksik na sa akin.”

Sheryl recalls. “ The owner was surprised. She said it was unusual for Molly to  approach a  human in that manner  because she usually barks at guests.”

After hearing that, Sheryl knew Molly was meant to live with her and her family.

Molly, a three-year-old mixed terrier-schnauzer, is “super playful. She likes to be appreciated all the time. She is also very affectionate. That’s what made me love her more,” Sheryl says.

MOCHA was found walking on a  side street when adopter Jastina Marvie saw her. She was apparently lost as she was only about two months old then.

Jastina took pity on the Shih Tzu baby and brought her home.

Mocha was then diagnosed with parvovirus which is common to pups who have not been vaccinated.

The vet said Mocha had a slim chance of surviving but Jastina did not give up on Mocha.

She fed Mocha every two hours and kept her hydrated because she kept vomiting. She did not sleep for days just to monitor Mocha.

She would also bring her to the vet everyday for medication.

Her efforts paid off and Mocha recovered.

Mocha is now 10 years old.

After recovering from her illness, she became very attached to Jastina.

“She is super loving and loyal, Jastina says.

She adds: “ Mocha is a super poised dog. She's a ladylike. Lol. She also likes to be cuddled. She's perfect for me because she knows how to make me smile when I feel sad. She is my stress reliever.”
