For the very first time a lucky couple received the gift of a lifetime from Cathay Dragon. Everyone loves a wedding, and what could be more amazing than a marriage onboard a plane at 35,000 feet in the air? Yes, the airline known for its superb service and hospitality made it happen so a happy couple’s dream wedding would come true.

Mr. Ha and Ms. Zhen, whose respective travel blogs have close to a million followers combined, were dubbed as “China’s favorite online travel couple.” Voted as the lucky winners in Cathay Dragon’s “Marriage in the Air” social media contest, they earned the once in a lifetime chance to say their “I do’s” aboard a Cathay Dragon flight bound for Hong Kong.

The couple met through a shared love for travel and what better way for them to exchange vows than by doing what they love and celebrating it with friends and relatives. “Travel will continue to be an important part of our lives. To have an inflight wedding specially tailored to our needs, with our families onboard for this occasion, is not only meaningful; it is something we will never forget. Cathay Dragon has won many awards for its service and hospitality, but we never imagined they could do so much. It really is a dream come true,” Mr. Ha and Ms. Zhen share.

The airline goes a long way to make sure each of their passengers lives a Life Well Travelled, and hosting this wedding for a couple passionate about travel is its way of staying true to that promise. Cathay Dragon pulled out all the stops to make sure that every detail of the wedding was in place. The festive and romantic atmosphere was in the air as decorations were thoughtfully arranged starting from the check-in counters, up to the boarding gate and inside the aircraft cabin. Members of the cabin crew lined up and warmly greeted the happy couple as they made their way down the aisle of the plane.

Once the flight reached cruise altitude, the couple finally exchanged rings and said their “I do’s” while their guests toasted the moment with champagne. Delighting everyone even more, Cathay Dragon served its renowned afternoon tea and signature warm clay pot rice dish. All the guests even received special “Marriage in the Air” souvenir bags full of goodies.

A wedding would not be complete without a beautiful reception. So, upon arrival in Hong Kong, the celebration continued with an intimate private party at Cathay Pacific’s highly acclaimed Business Class lounge, the Pier. Mr. Ha and Ms. Zhen also spent the weekend sightseeing in Hong Kong and shared their experiences travelling for the first time as a married couple with all their fans online.

Cathay Dragon CEO Algernon Yau said, “Our heartiest congratulations go to Mr. Ha and Ms. Zhen. We couldn’t be happier to host this special occasion for this Life Well Travelled couple. We consider it an honor that they chose Cathay Dragon and we look forward to seeing them onboard our flights again in the near future.”
