Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, along with Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte, on Monday formally renewed a sister-city agreement between the city and Davao City.

After the signing, Bautista invited Davao Mayor Sara Duterte to his office to hand over a copy of his biography.

Belmonte also thanked the presidential daughter for coming over to Quezon City.

On June 27, Duterte sent Davao City Vice Mayor Bernard Al-ag to attend the sister city cooperation ceremony.

“With grateful hearts, we joyfully and warmly welcome Mayor Sara to our city and extend our deepest thanks to her for the time she has spared despite her extremely busy schedule that includes the State of the Nation Address of her father [President Rodrigo Duterte] this afternoon,” Belmonte said.

Held at the Quezon City hall, the signing was witnessed by city councilors, department heads, barangay officials and other guests from both Davao and Quezon City.

“We are truly happy for Quezon City’s renewal of the sister-cityhood agreement. We look up to Quezon City. We in Davao City are looking at the best practices of the other cities so that we can improve our public service there,” Duterte said.

“In our pursuit of progress and development, this partnership opens a lot of opportunities to learn from each other and to collaborate on initiatives that can help uplift the lives of our constituents and bring peace and prosperity to our cities and to our nation,” she added.

Meanwhile, Bautista signed an ordinance providing free anti-rabies immunization to QC residents.

He approved City Ordinance 2682 is in compliance with the National Rabies, Prevention, and Control Program under Section 7 of Republic Act 9482 or the Anti-Rabies Act of 2007.

The city government shall provide free anti-rabies immunization and tetanus toxoid immunization, medicine and complete rabies exposure management, such as wound care and counseling to residents who are already infected with the virus.

It shall also adopt the provision of the national rabies prevention and control program for pre-exposure prophylaxis to high-risk patients and post-exposure prophylaxis to animal bite victims and to persons exposed to rabies.

The health department would formulate the implementing rules and regulations of the ordinance.

In 2015, Quezon City recorded 17,796 rabies exposures and four deaths.
