A worker arranges poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima) flowers at a flower shop inside the Quezon City Memorial Circle, her expectation high of the commercially important plant species of the diverse spurge family, which is indigenous to Mexico, well known for its red and green foliage and is widely used in Christmas floral displays. It derives its common English name from Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first US minister to Mexico.
