Manila Water wins contract to operate in Calbayog City

Manila Water Company Inc. won the concession to operate the Calbayog City Water District in Samar province.

Manila Water disclosed to the Philippine Stock Exchange it received a notice on Thursday to go ahead with a joint venture project to rehabilitate and operate the water and wastewater systems of CCWD in Calbayog City, as well as other areas that may eventually form part of the service coverage in Samar province.

Manila Water will sign a joint venture agreement with the CCWD to implement the project  upon completion of the conditions specified in the notice of award.

The project has an estimated capital expenditure of P1.165 billion over the 25-year contract period. It is estimated to deliver a potential billed volume of 30 million liters per day.

“Manila Water undertakes to provide the Exchange with further developments regarding this transaction,” the company said.

Early this week, the consortium of Manila Water, wholly-owned subsidiary Manila Water Philippine Ventures Inc. and Tubig Pilipinas Group Inc. received the notice of award to the manage the water supply of the San Jose City Water District–Nueva Ecija.

The award involves rehabilitation, operation and expansion of the water supply system and the provision of water and sanitation services of the SJCWD in the City of San Jose in the province of Nueva Ecija.

The project has an estimated capital expenditure program of P1.4 billion over the 25-year contract period, and is estimated to have a billed volume of about 21 million liters per day by the 25th year.

Manila Water has been actively pursuing projects this year. It received notice of awards for several project around the country in the fourth quarter alone.

The company won the concession to rehabilitate, operate and expand the water supply system of  Lambunao Water District in Lambunao, Iloilo.

Manila Water was awarded by the Calinog Water District to operate and expand the water supply system of Calinog in Iloilo.

MWPV also previously signed and executed a joint venture agreement with Tubig Pilipinas over water supply facilities in Malasiqui town, Pangasinan province.
