Clark registers more locators

Locators inside Clark Freeport Zone increased 6 percent to 949 in 2017 from 895 in 2016, state-run Clark Development Corp. said Thursday.

Locators inside Clark Freeport include 165 firms in the industrial sector; 125 in the ICT industry; 56 tourism locators; 218 service-related; 220 commercial companies; 19 developers; 44 institutional; 31 aviation-related firms; 53 logistics companies; 14 utilities; and four agro-industrial companies.

The number of workers in Clark also rose 15.5 percent in 2017 to 107,997 from 93,467 workers in 2016. 

The industrial sector inside Clark is the biggest contributor of employment with 48,476 jobs or 44.89 percent of the total number of workers.  The ICT industry, comprised mostly of business process outsourcing firms, followed with 23,439 workers or 22.7 percent of the total.

Exports by locators in Clark Freeport hit $5 billion in 2017 or 50.6 percent higher than $3.32 billion generated in 2016.  Exports did not include the $1.43 billion generated by Texas Instrument which reports directly to the Philippine Economic Zone Authority.
