Therma Mobile, Inc. (TMO), a subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corporation, together with local residents and public officials, launched a community-led phase of a 10-year rehabilitation initiative for the Navotas River to mitigate flood risks and improve public health. Serving as a localized execution of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR) “Adopt-an-Estero/Waterbody Program”, the volunteers collected 113 kilograms of segregated waste from the waterway during the activity. It also included educational sessions on urban water pollution, waste management, and bioremediation, which is a biotechnical process that cleans up contamination. The program is a public-private partnership supported by TMO that assists the government’s broader objective of cleaning and restoring Manila Bay.
