Enderun Extension secures TESDA accreditation for ESL Competency Training

MANILA, Philippines — Enderun Extension has officially received TESDA Program Registration Certificates for its English as a Second Language (ESL) Competency Training – marking a key breakthrough in standardizing ESL education in the country.

“Being accredited by TESDA marks a significant milestone for the ESL field in the Philippines,” said Loida Flojo, Vice President of Enderun Extension. “This integration into the national certification framework bridges the gap between language education and employability – both locally and abroad.”

Until recently, TESDA’s framework was focused on local trades and vocational skills. ESL training, despite its growing role in education tourism and workforce preparation, lacked a national accrediting body. This absence made it difficult to benchmark program quality and align learning with professional outcomes.

Enderun joined a national working group composed of leading ESL institutions across the country to address this gap. After years of collaboration and development with TESDA, the ESL competency standards – aligned with global benchmarks like the CEFR – have now been formalized.

“Proficiency in English continues to be one of the Philippines’ competitive advantages, supporting its position as a top voice outsourcing destination,” said Mitzi Samson-Endriano, NLSC Chief and Administrator at TESDA. 

“With the rise of ESL learning across the country, we developed Competency Standards for English at the Beginner, Intermediate, and C1 levels in collaboration with Enderun Colleges and other accredited schools. These standards help ensure training programs meet both local and international expectations. TESDA-accredited ESL institutions are key partners in elevating the quality of English language training and in contributing to economic growth, social development, and global competitiveness.”

“This accreditation allows us to issue government-recognized certificates that validate our students’ skills and increase their career readiness,” said the Enderun Extension team.

For Filipino and foreign learners alike, TESDA-accredited ESL programs:

  • Ensure instruction from qualified educators.
  • Provide globally relevant, competency-based training.
  • Offer greater recognition in job markets and academic institutions.

The move also signals an important shift in the industry – toward accountability, professionalization, and international credibility.

Enderun Extension helped lead the initiative, working with TESDA and the DOT (Department of Tourism) to align the program with industry needs and global standards. “Institutions like Enderun play a key role in positioning Metro Manila – and the Philippines – as a global hub for English language education,” said Ivannovich Agote, OIC‑Assistant Regional Director of DOT‑NCR. “Accreditation builds trust with international learners and supports long-term education tourism growth.”

With accreditation secured, Enderun is set to expand its TESDA-certified offerings and deepen collaboration with tourism and education agencies. The long-term goal: make the Philippines not only a source of globally skilled talent—but also a premier destination for English training and cross-cultural learning.

“We’re proud to be leading this movement and we welcome other institutions to pursue accreditation,” said Flojo. “Together, we can create a stronger, more credible ESL training ecosystem in the Philippines.”
