Junior Lady Altas shoot for volley crown

League-leading University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Junior Lady Altas are one win away from reclaiming the crown as they gear up for Game 2 of the Finals against defending champions Arellano University Lady Braves in the NCAA Season 101 Volleyball Fiesta at the Arellano Gym on Monday.

Head coach Sandy Rieta’s squad is in prime form after a dominant Game 1 performance, putting them in strong position to bring the title back to Las Piñas — a championship they last held in Season 99 in 2024.

Rieta will again rely on Finals standout Sherrie Rose Acosta, alongside key contributors Elizha Sildo, Ramiel Panganiban, Isabel Baser, libero Janine Espiritu, and graduating setter Jasmine Monte.

Acosta and Sildo delivered identical 14-point outputs to power the Junior Lady Altas to a straight-sets victory in Game 1, 25-19, 25-11, 25-23, last Thursday, March 26. The match lasted just 1 hour and 14 minutes, as Perpetual denied Arellano any opportunity to gain momentum in the series opener.

Acosta tallied 14 points built on 12 attacks, a block, and an ace, while also adding eight excellent receptions. Imus native Sildo scored 12 attack points, two blocks, three digs, and two receptions.

Middle blocker Ramiel Panganiban added 12 points from nine attacks and three blocks. Monte orchestrated the offense with 17 excellent sets, while contributing a dig and a point. Espiritu anchored the floor defense with 15 digs and eight receptions.

Catherine Chu paced Arellano with 16 points, all coming from attacks.
