Tour wild card Tabuena shares ninth on opening day of LIV Golf Adelaide

Miguel Tabuena marked the confirmation of his LIV Golf Tour wild card with a strong opening-round performance, carding a 3-under 69 to sit in a share of ninth place after day one of the LIV Golf Adelaide at The Grange Golf Club in Australia.

The 31-year-old Filipino produced a steady round highlighted by five birdies against two bogeys, placing him alongside nine other players in the early standings. Among those sharing ninth were England’s Tyrell Hatton and New Zealand’s Ben Campbell, underscoring the quality of competition near the top of the leaderboard.

Tabuena and his group finished three shots behind joint leaders Bryson DeChambeau and Australia’s Marc Leishman, who both fired 6-under 66s to seize control after the opening round of the three-day tournament.

The opening-day showing was particularly significant for Tabuena, who recently saw his stint with the 4Aces GC end after the season-opening event in Saudi Arabia. Despite that setback, the former Asian Tour standout was quickly confirmed as one of five wild card entries for the remainder of the LIV Golf season, ensuring his continued presence on the breakaway circuit.

Known for his aggressive style and scoring ability, Tabuena’s solid start in Adelaide positions him well heading into the middle rounds, as he looks to build momentum and strengthen his standing among LIV Golf’s international field.
