THE nine-time champion Perpetual Altas Perps Squad will once again aim to bring the NCAA Cheerleading Championship crown back to Las Piñas when the competition takes place on Thursday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Led by coach Ruf Rosario, the Perps Squad will showcase an Ancient-themed routine in the 10-team showdown as they try to reclaim the title from defending champion Arellano Chief Squad.
Based on the official order of performance released by the organizers, the returning Lyceum Pirates Pep Squad will open the competition.
They will be followed by the San Sebastian College Golden Stags Cheerleading Squad, Mapua Cheering Cardinals, Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals Pep Squad, Perpetual Altas Perps Squad, SBU Red Corps, Arellano Chief Squad, Letran Cheering Squad, Jose Rizal University Pep Squad, and CSB Blazers Pep Squad.
Last year, the Chief Squad successfully defended its crown, capturing its sixth consecutive championship and seventh overall title.
The Perpetual Altas Perps Squad finished as runner-up for the sixth straight year, tallying 213.50 points, just behind Arellano’s 218 points. Dennis Abrina
Arellano U took home ₱100,000 in cash and the championship trophy, while Perpetual received ₱75,000.
The Las Piñas-based Perps Squad last won the title in 2016, securing its ninth championship. Dennis Abrina
