THE Philippine Taekwondo Association will be holding its annual National Instructors General Assembly on Sunday, Jan. 11, to chart a course for the continued growth of the sport with focus on forming formidable national team for a number of important international events this year.
The PTA, one of the most successful national sports associations in last year’s 33rd SEA Games in Thailand after producing 14 medals – two of them golds – sees more than 1,000 certified instructors to converge at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Apart from the affiliated PTA national instructors, also expected to attend are the Regional Management Committee chairmen and the top guns of the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Also up for discussion are the national and regional development programs and the national and international competitions, such as World Junior Taekwondo Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Asian Championships in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and World Poomsae Championships in Chuncheon, Korea.
They are also looking forward to competing in the World Taekwondo GP Series in Rome, Italy, Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan and the Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) in Riyadh, Saudi, Arabia.
Registration starts at 9 a.m. followed by a practical review of new Poomsae rules and Referee Hand Signal. Agenda proper begins at 2 p.m.
