Severe flooding in Songkhla, Thailand, has forced organizers of the 2025 Southeast Asian Games to relocate several events and adjust competition schedules, officials said.
The Thailand SEA Games Organizing Committee (THAISOC), led by Chaiyapak Siriwat, has announced that 10 new facilities will replace flooded venues in Songkhla. Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham Tolentino said many national sports associations have not indicated any intention to withdraw despite the changes.
Affected sports and new venues:
- Men’s football: Qualification rounds moved to Dec. 4–11 at Rajamangala National Stadium, Bangkok; group adjustments made following Cambodia’s withdrawal and Singapore’s relocation from Group C to Group A.
- Chess: Dec. 10–19 at Bazaar Hotel.
- Muay Thai: Dec. 13–19 at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.
- Kabaddi: Dec. 11–18 at Chalermphrakiat Sports Center, Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin.
- Wushu: Dec. 13–15 at Government Complex, Chaeng Watthana.
- Pencak Silat: Dec. 13–17 at IMPACT Arena, Muang Thong Thani.
- Judo: Dec. 11–14 at Rajamangala Auditorium, Rajamangala University of Technology, Thanyaburi.
- Pétanque: Dec. 10–15 at Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University.
- Karatedo: Dec. 11–15 at Government Complex, Chaeng Watthana.
- Wrestling: Dec. 17–19 at Pacific Park Sriracha, Chonburi Province.
- Billiards and Snooker: Thunder Dome, Muang Thong Thani.
Cambodia has withdrawn from judo, karatedo, pencak silat, pétanque, wrestling, wushu, football, and sepak takraw, while remaining in 13 sports such as swimming and athletics. Singapore is still assessing whether to pull out of additional events.
Tolentino said the changes are limited to travel schedules and venues, and Team Philippines remains fully committed to participating. Organizers are continuing meetings to finalize the updated calendar.
