An exciting chapter of Philippine basketball unfolded at the recent FIBA 3×3 Manila Challenger 2025, hosted by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), the governing body for basketball in the Philippines. The tournament, which was supported by flavored vitamin water brand B’lue, was designed as a showcase of the world’s best local and international basketball talent via an elite-level 3v3 format.
Talents included defending champions Ub from Serbia, local teams like Manila Melmac, and eventual champions Lugano, who took their inspired play to win the championship.
“Hosting the FIBA 3×3 Cup is a proud moment for the Philippines. It puts the country on the global basketball map once again, while giving our passionate fans the chance to experience world-class 3×3 action right here at home. It also highlights the growth of the sport in the region and reinforces the Philippines’ reputation as a world-class host and a true basketball-loving nation,” said SBP Partnership Head Chito Medina.

With its dynamic, fast-paced format, 3×3 basketball proved to be the perfect stage for veteran athletes to showcase their skill, grit, and competitive spirit. The tournament brought together elite teams and standout talent from the Philippines and around the globe, creating an atmosphere as electrifying as the games themselves.
Medina mentions “Basketball has always been at the heart of Filipino culture, but we know the game must continue to evolve. SBP works to bring fresh formats like 3×3, expand grassroots programs, and create engaging fan experiences both on and off the court. Our grassroots initiatives not only introduce basketball to more communities but also help us identify talents—not just players, but also coaches and referees. By combining tradition with innovation, we make sure basketball remains exciting, accessible, and relevant to every generation of fans.”
As the official hydration partner of the Manila Challenger 2025, B’lue was there to support athletes throughout the intense competition. More than just your usual drink, B’lue offers a flavorful boost with added vitamins that help refresh and recharge. Its presence at the event highlighted the brand’s quiet yet meaningful role in keeping participants feeling their best, on and off the court.
The SBP 3×3 Manila Challenger 2025 showcases the Philippines’ growing presence in regional basketball. With ongoing support and grassroots efforts, the sport continues to thrive in the country.
