Girl group MNL48 announced its plans to change both its operating company name and group name in January 2026.
On Monday, Dec. 29, MNL48 tweeted that the move is part of its next chapter amid the evolving P-pop landscape.
“We would like to inform you that MNL48 plans to change both its operating company name and group name in January 2026,” the statement read.
The group added that the decision aims to move forward while honoring “the history, experiences, and strong bonds” formed with fans since its debut.
MNL48 assured supporters that despite the changes, its core identity will remain intact.
“The spirit of MNL48 and the dedication of its members will remain unchanged,” it said, adding that details on the new group name and future plans will be announced later.
Earlier this year, MNL48 returned from a prolonged hiatus after transferring operations to Japan-based MNL48 Inc. The group resumed activities with new members, live events, and concerts, including the Dream Beyond Concert in October.
Formed in 2018, MNL48 is the sister group of Japan’s AKB48.
