Award-winning content creator Abi Marquez, widely known online as the “Lumpia Queen,” has been named the newest ambassador of World Vision Philippines, the humanitarian organization said.
Marquez, whose food videos often center on turning familiar dishes into lumpia, said food has long been her way of telling stories and connecting with people. She said the partnership aligns with her belief that food can help build safe and supportive spaces, especially for children.
“Becoming part of the World Vision family makes the work that I do even more meaningful and purposeful,” Marquez said. “It is a reminder that food is more than creativity or culture. It is a basic right that everyone, especially kids, should have access to.”
She said she hopes the collaboration will help raise awareness about the role of food in building healthier communities.
To mark the partnership, Marquez recently visited a World Vision-supported community in Baseco, Manila, where she joined children in a Kiddie Kitchen session. The activity introduced basic kitchen skills such as peeling fruits and decorating pancakes. The visit ended with a song performance by the children, followed by Marquez distributing gifts.
World Vision Philippines has also launched a Noche Buena campaign as part of its programs for children and families. The initiative encouraged one-time donations of at least 1,000 pesos to fund gift packs for children. The organization said about 24,000 children nationwide received Noche Buena gifts through the campaign.
World Vision Philippines national director Herbert Carpio said the organization sees Marquez’s role as part of a longer-term effort.
“We’re excited to welcome Abi as one of World Vision’s ambassadors,” Carpio said. “With her creativity and influence, we hope that she can help encourage more Filipinos to sponsor children so they may achieve their full potential.”
