Baguio’s Camp John Hay to open charging stations for more sustainable tourism

ACMobility, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), and the John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC) have formalized a joint initiative to accelerate the electrified mobility infrastructure in Baguio city – with Camp John Hay being a focal area under BCDA’s management.

The partnership introduces eight new charge points spread across three strategic locations inside Camp John Hay—the Garden Wing, the Public Parking Area, and the Golf Club. Notably, the installation includes Baguio City’s only DC Fast Charger to date, which is situated at the Garden Wing hub. This 60kW DC Fast Charger is capable of recharging vehicles in as little as 30 minutes, supported by two additional 22kW AC chargers at the same location. The Public Parking Area hosts two 22kW chargers, while the Golf Club hub provides two 7kW chargers. These modern facilities are designed to offer convenient recharging options for travelers heading to Baguio, particularly during peak periods like the holiday break. All chargers are supported by the Evro app, which allows users to easily locate stations, check availability, initiate charging, and make payments. This expansion builds upon an existing EVCS at the Camp John Hay Technohub, with further AC and DC chargers slated for operation in the coming months.

Joshua M. Bingcang, President and CEO of BCDA, highlighted the significance of the project, stating, “This partnership marks a key milestone in Camp John Hay’s pursuit of sustainable and eco-friendly tourism.” He elaborated that by introducing reliable and accessible EV infrastructure in such a strategic location, the collaboration is not only fostering a “greener and more convenient travel experience for residents and tourists,” but also supporting ACMobility’s mission to provide accessible and reliable EV charging throughout the country.

Looking ahead, ACMobility is focused on continuing its efforts to develop the Philippine EV Spine as it remains on track to deploy more charging points nationwide as it progresses into 2026.
