Mercedes-Benz unveils All-Electric G-Class
Mercedes-Benz Philippines has introduced the new G 580 with EQ Technology, marking the first time the iconic G-Class has been offered as an all-electric vehicle. This new model blends the G-Class’s legendary off-road capabilities with modern electric vehicle technology as the brand further pushes towards more sustainable luxury.
The G 580 with EQ Technology is powered by a high-voltage modular lithium-ion battery with a usable energy capacity of up to 116 kWh. This setup provides an all-electric range of up to 473 km (WLTP) as it still retains its robust character while delivering the same powerful driving experience – this time cleaner and quieter.
Inside, the G 580 features a sophisticated cabin equipped with dual 12.3-inch displays for a customizable instrument cluster and a central infotainment touchscreen. Both displays are integrated with the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) system, offering advanced voice control and seamless connectivity with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The vehicle also comes standard with a Burmester® 3D surround sound system.
For off-road performance, the G 580 introduces several innovative features. Torque Vectoring allows for precise torque distribution to each wheel, improving grip and stability. The G-STEERING function enhances agility by turning wheels at different speeds, reducing turning radius. A revolutionary G-TURN feature enables the vehicle to rotate in place up to 720 degrees on loose or slippery surfaces to help better navigate through tight off-road situations. The G-ROAR sound experience gives the electric G-Class a signature sound presence, while the Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS) ensures pedestrian safety.
Priced starting at P13,590,000.00, the new G 580 comes with the AMG Line package, adding sporty styling cues such as a silver chrome radiator grille and 20-inch AMG 10-spoke light-alloy wheels.
