The country’s two-wheel market has sustained its robust growth, with sales increasing by 4.8% in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year. A deep dive by the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association, Inc. (MDPPA) revealed that total sales reached 910,923 units for Q2 2025, up from 876,074 units in Q2 2024.
According to Alex Cumpas, President of the MDPPA, this consistent growth is fueled by the practicality and efficiency of motorcycles in navigating urban environments. “Filipinos continue to see two-wheeled vehicles as a practical solution to daily commuting challenges,” Cumpas stated. He added that affordability, fuel efficiency, and the ability to weave through heavy traffic make motorcycles an “essential choice for urban mobility.”
The report highlights that the Automatic/Scooter category remains the top-selling segment, leading sales across all motorcycle types. Other categories, including moped, street, business, big bikes, and niche models, also contributed to the overall market expansion.
Industry stakeholders, including the MDPPA and its member brands—Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, and TVS—are optimistic about the remainder of the year. They attribute the positive momentum to the ongoing economic recovery, the continued need for personal mobility, and accessible financing options. Toni Boi Acuesta, MDPPA’s Marketing Committee Chairperson, projects a 5% increase for the entire year, citing strong consumer demand and the growing appeal of motorcycles as a cost-effective transport option.
