‘Basyang’ weakens into LPA

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday early morning reported that Tropical Depression “Basyang” weakened into a low-pressure area (LPA).

The state weather bureau has since lifted all wind signals in the country.

The LPA was last estimated 105 kilometers southeast of Cuyo, Palawan.

It was moving westward at 25 kilometers per hour over the Sulu Sea.

“Due to unfavorable environmental conditions, Basyang weakened into a low-pressure area at 2:00 a.m. today. The remnant low will move generally west-northwestward over the Sulu Sea and cross northern Palawan,” PAGASA said in its latest tropical cyclone bulletin.

“However, as the remnant low moves over increasingly less favorable environmental conditions, there is a likelihood that it may dissipate over the Sulu Sea,” it added.
