The low pressure area (LPA) affecting weather conditions in the country’s eastern portions over the weekend had dissipated Sunday morning, but another one entered the Philippine area of responsibility, the state weather bureau said in an updated advisory.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the trough or extension of the recent LPA will still bring moderate to heavy rains over Bicol, Eastern Visayas, parts of Caraga and Davao regions.
The new LPA, meanwhile, is threatening Eastern Samar as it was located 715 kilometers east of Guiuan. While PAGASA noted it has a ‘low’ chance of developing into a tropical depression, it will affect weather conditions in several areas mostly in Bicol.
Moderate to heavy rains (50-100 millimeters) will prevail in Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate and Northern Samar on Monday noon, Sept. 1, due to the LPA. This scenario will continue until Tuesday, Sept. 2.
On the other hand, the southwest monsoon or ‘habagat’ will be responsible for moderate to heavy rains over Occidental Mindoro, Antique and Negros Occidental this Monday, which may extend until Wednesday, according to PAGASA.
