A low pressure area (LPA) being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) developed into a tropical depression, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced on Friday afternoon.
This was last estimated 1,920 kilometers east-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, moving west slowly as of 2 p.m. on Friday.
The tropical depression had winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 55 kph.
Meanwhile, an LPA that is a remnant of Tropical Depression “Danas” (Bising) remains outside the PAR. It was last observed 825 kilometers west-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes.
According to the state weather bureau, the LPA is unlikely to redevelop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
PAGASA has since advised all stakeholders to monitor its updates.
