The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in an unprecedented time of uncertainty and difficulty, yet Filipinos remain empowered and the country is poised to bounce back as both the public and private sectors stand shoulder to shoulder in solidarity.

This was the sentiment of Pilipinas Shell Vice President for Retail Randy Del Valle as the nation celebrated this year’s 122nd Independence Day.

“Everything we have witnessed through the Filipino has given us reason to hope that the country will continue to bounce back and move forward,” Del Valle said.

Pilipinas Shell's forecourt staff – modern-day heroes themselves who work to support the community – have shared origami doves as a simple message of hope for every guest in selected Shell gas stations.

“There is a lot more that we need to do as individuals and as communities for a better tomorrow. That’s why it’s important for us to hold onto this newfound hope. Let this origami dove serve as a reminder of this,” Del Valle said.

Del Valle emphasized the importance of Filipinos taking care of each other during this extraordinary time. Simple acts of kindness, such as lending a space in your car for other commuters or even a small gesture like sanitizing a shopping cart after you use it, can inspire others to be more compassionate, he said.

Now that the country has transitioned into lighter quarantine protocols and lower travel restrictions, Filipinos can avail of P20 worth of items from Shell for every single purchase of either P750 or P500 worth of Shell FuelSave or Shell V-Power fuels, respectively.

Participating stations also offer the Get Gas, Get Bigas promo, which gives customers one free kilo of rice for every purchase of either P2,000 or P1,500 worth of Shell FuelSave or Shell V-Power fuels, respectively.

These promos are available until July 15 in select stations.

Shell Select convenience stores have also upped their safety standards by promoting strict observance of proper food handling. Shields have also been installed at the cashier to protect both customers and staff from the virus, and alcohol-based sanitizer is available at every station.

To keep themselves safe on the road, customers may also continue to bring their vehicles to Shell Helix Oilchange+ Lube Bays for regular maintenance. All mechanics and receptionists have been briefed on the company’s safety procedures and will thoroughly disinfect vehicles and other touchpoints both before and after each maintenance transaction.

“Sa bahay, sa trabaho, o kahit sa serbisyo ng isa’t isa, ang bawat isa sa atin may magagawa,” said Del Valle. “Basta’t laging may magmamalasakit, Pilipinas, kaya natin ‘to.”
