The Philippine Navy and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) have formalized the awarding of a land title for the Tiniguiban Military Reservation in Puerto Princesa, Palawan through the Handog Titulo Program.
The ceremony, which took place on July 22, marked the official handover of a Special Patent (SP) for the site, strengthening the Navy’s legal claim over the strategically located military reservation.
The document was received by Commodore Vincent Sibala, Commander of the Western Naval Command, on behalf of Vice Admiral Jose Maria Ambrosio Ezpeleta, the Flag Officer In Command of the Philippine Navy.
DENR-MIMAROPA Assistant Regional Director Forrester Maximo Landrito presented the title on behalf of Regional Executive Director Felix S. Mirasol Jr.
The awarding of the patent is considered a significant step in securing land tenure for the Armed Forces, particularly in regions vital to national defense and maritime operations.
In a statement, Ezpeleta expressed gratitude to DENR officials, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Palawan, and the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Puerto Princesa for their continued support and partnership.
He underscored the importance of legal land ownership for strategic military assets, saying it bolsters the Navy’s capacity to carry out its core missions in national defense and maritime security.
“As we look to the future, may this day serve as both an inspiration and a call to strive for excellence in safeguarding the lands entrusted to the Philippine Navy,” Ezpeleta said in his message.
