The confrontation turned violent when the suspect allegedly took his pistol and opened fire, striking three individuals before fleeing the crime scene.

The victims were identified as a 52-year-old businessman, a 22-year-old male college student, and a 29-year-old man, who received gunshot wounds. They were rushed to Cabading Hospital for medical treatment.

The suspect, a 28-year-old man alias ‘Kenneth,’ attempted to evade authorities but was intercepted and apprehended after a rapid hot pursuit operation by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Antipolo City with a nearby unit implementing Oplan Cobweb.

“Oplan Cobweb” refers to a PNP operation focused on investigating and apprehending suspects involved in crimes, particularly those related to violence and firearms.

The suspect was caught by pursuing police officers at the Border Checkpoint in Masinag, Barangay Mayamot, Antipolo City.

Acting PNP Antipolo Chief Lieutenant Col. Ryan Manongdo commended the quick response of the officers involved and assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway.

“We urge witnesses or anyone with additional information to come forward to aid in this case,” he said.

The suspect is currently in the PNP Antipolo custody and appropriate charges are being prepared. A detailed written report will follow as the probe continues.
