Pinoy trafficking victim Intercepted at NAIA

Immigration agents have prevented a Filipino from leaving the country amid suspicions he was a victim of trafficking and would be working for a crime ring in Cambodia.

BI Immigration Protection and Border Enforcement Section chief Mary Jane Hizon said the 39 year-old man initially posed as a tourist bound for Hanoi, Vietnam on board a Cebu Pacific flight at the NAIA Terminal 3.

“The traveler claimed that his trip was ‘on-the-spot’ or spontaneous. However, his inconsistent responses during primary questioning raised suspicions, prompting his referral for secondary inspection,” said Hizon.

During the secondary interview, the passenger  disclosed that he had been recruited via Facebook and lured with promises of employment at a business process outsourcing (BPO) company.
