AFP marks 89th anniversary with awarding ceremonies

The Armed Forces of the Philippines celebrated its 89 th anniversary by conferring awards “honoring the dedication and invaluable contributions” of outstanding personnel, partners, and stakeholders.

AFP chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., presided over the award-giving event recognizing “exceptional individuals and groups who have demonstrated exemplary service, innovative contributions, and unwavering commitment to the AFP’s mission of safeguarding the nation and promoting peace.”

Key awardees were Dugong Alay, Dugtong Buhay Inc., Ambassador of the AFP Cultural Heritage commander Flordeliza Villaseńor, UP College of Law Prof. Jay Batongbacal, and Mindanao State University-Maguindanao Law chancellor Dr. Bai Hejira Nefertiti Limbona.

In his keynote address, Brawner thanked the honorees and emphasized the importance of collective strength and unity within the AFP and its network of partners.

“To our soldiers, partners, and stakeholders, your dedication is our nation’s backbone. With you by our side, we are stronger than ever,” General Brawner stated. “As we mark the AFP’s 89th year, we must remember that the AFP is not just an institution but a living embodiment of the Filipinos—brave, determined, and relentless in the pursuit of peace and justice.” Brawner said.
